A dental crown or a cap is a type of restoration that completely covers a weak tooth above the gum line and protects it. It can be tooth supported or dental implant supported. It usually takes two visits to complete. Dental crowns can be made of metal – gold, or a metal core with porcelain facing. Alternatively, cosmetic dental crowns can be made in full of porcelain and zirconia.
